CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Do you love pretty lettering? Whether you’re a stationery nerd, DIY-er, or just a crafty
individual, in this workshop you’ll be learning an introduction to modern calligraphy with
a pointed dip pen and ink. We will cover all the basics and get you ready to add those
special lettered details to your snail mail, paper goods, home decor and more!
I will teach the basics, and my expectation for you is to have ink flowing through your
nib with enough confidence to be able to practice way beyond class.
Homework: practice makes progress!
Supplies: Students will have to supply any necessary calligraphy items after their starter
calligraphy kit has been used. This includes various ink colors and ink containers,
additional pens and nibs, additional calligraphy paper, and any other preferences)

Elementary Etiquette- Amy Bleacher

CLASS DESCRIPTION:
This class will help young students build confidence, kindness, and respectful habits in
everyday situations. In this engaging and age-appropriate class, children learn how to
meet new people by making eye contact, offering a friendly greeting, and introducing
themselves politely. They practice waiting their turn to speak, listening carefully to
others, and using respectful language during conversations. The class also teaches
practical life skills like how to order food at a restaurant—speaking clearly, saying
“please” and “thank you,” and interacting politely with servers. In addition, students learn
proper family dinner table manners, including how to use utensils correctly, chew with
their mouths closed, and participate in polite conversation. Through role-playing,
games, and guided practice, this class helps children develop social skills that will
benefit them at school, at home, and in their communities.

Class Description
Elementary Readers Club is a fun, relaxed book club
designed for students who enjoy exciting stories and great
discussions. Our first featured book is I Survived the Titanic
by Lauren Tarshis, a fast-paced historical adventure that
brings one of history’s most famous events to life through the
eyes of a young survivor.
Students will read 3–5 chapters each week at home, then
come to class ready to dive into the story together. We’ll talk
about characters, plot twists, vocabulary, and real history
connected to the Titanic, while building confidence and
comprehension in a welcoming group setting.
Class time will also include hands-on activities, creative
projects, and fun challenges inspired by the book, helping
students experience the story in memorable ways.
This class is perfect for students who enjoy chapter books,
adventure, and learning through discussion without the
pressure of tests or heavy written work.

Fraction Boot Camp- Amy Weiss

Description - Many students who struggle in middle school and high school level math classes do so
because of fractions. This class will take the fear out of fractions. We will cover improper fractions,
mixed numbers, simplifying, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions using visual
tools and real world scenarios. Students should know how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole
numbers as this will not be covered in this class.
Handwriting Heroes
Grade – K – 2nd
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Handwriting will come alive through hands-on learning! Help your student learn confidence in handwriting skills in this fun and engaging mini-mester designed for your Kindergarten through 2nd grade child! Students will strengthen letter formation, fine motor skills, and writing confidence using sensory and fine motor activities. Lessons are designed to build confidence, improve legibility, and make handwriting fun while supporting early literacy development. This class is ideal for Kindergarten through second-grade students who are learning to write or need extra practice, and enjoy interactive learning experiences.

Learning Styles-Amy Weiss
(4 week course)
Grades - 5th - 8th Grade (parents need to attend with student)

Description - We will discuss and identify different learning styles. We will take quizzes and use
hands-on activities to determine each student's learning style. We will then develop strategies for
each student to use and talk about how different teaching styles impact them.
Mastering Note-Taking- Crystal Costabile
September 14 and runs for 8 weeks, meeting each Monday.
Course Description:
This 8-week mini-semester course helps students build
strong note-taking and organization skills they can use
across all subjects. Students will learn practical strategies for
listening, identifying key information, organizing notes, and
reviewing material effectively. Throughout the course, we will
explore multiple note-taking styles so students can discover
what works best for their learning style.
Classes are interactive and low-pressure, with guided
practice, discussion, and hands-on activities designed to
boost confidence and independence in academic work.

CLASS DESCRIPTION:
This class will focus on helping students develop confidence, respect, and strong social
skills as they navigate more independent and social environments. In this class,
students learn how to make positive first impressions by meeting new people with
confidence—using appropriate greetings, maintaining eye contact, and engaging in
polite conversation. They practice waiting their turn to speak, actively listening, and
contributing thoughtfully in group discussions.
The course also covers real-life situations, such as ordering food at restaurants, where
students learn how to communicate clearly, show appreciation, and demonstrate
respect toward service staff. In addition, students refine their family dinner table
manners, including proper posture, utensil use, and participating in respectful, engaging
conversation at the table. Through interactive activities, role-playing, and practical

Description - Writing a paragraph is a skill required across many subjects, including history projects,
English essays, and science lab reports. In this class we will break down the writing structure into
manageable steps and look at different types of paragraphs. We will cover topic sentences,
supporting evidence, and conclusions. Each student will write, edit, and proofread a paragraph.
Students need to be able to write a complete sentence as this will not be covered in this class.

Description:
PowerPoints are becoming a staple in today’s college classes and workplaces. The goal
of this class is to give students the basic knowledge they will need to complete future
assignments and tasks using PowerPoint.
This 8-week class will cover both the basics of making PowerPoint presentations and
the basics of presenting them to others. Students will learn how to make slides with text,
pictures, and animation. They will also learn the basics of public speaking when
presenting their slideshows to the class.
This is a high school level course, but advanced 8th graders may sign up.
Student Requirements:

-Access to Microsoft PowerPoint
Homework: Homework will consist of working on PowerPoints at home.

This 4-week class will go over the reading and language arts type of questions that will
be on the TSI college entrance exam. There will also be instruction on how to write a
TSI essay. Students will write a TSI style essay and feedback will be given. This class
will not provide TSI math instruction.
This is a high school level course, but advanced 8th graders may sign up.
Please note: If your student has taken or is currently enrolled in my beginning
composition and grammar class, this same information is covered in there.
